Stora Enso is pleased to celebrate the Carton of the Year – a unique Moët & Chandon Champagne box that was awarded with the prize in the 2013 Pro Carton/ECMA Awards.
The jury bestowed the title of Carton of the Year 2013 on the Twinkle Box, which keeps a bottle of champagne chilled for up to two hours. The solution, created by Van Genechten for Moët & Chandon, replaces conventional metal or plastic bottle coolers. The graphic design and structural form of the box are in perfect harmony. Two grades of cartonboard with metallised surfaces were laminated for production, and the outer ply is made from Stora Enso’s Ensocoat board.
“This carton breaks the traditional mould, as it is much shorter than conventional champagne packs and the neck of the bottle is on display whilst the carton encloses the lower half of the bottle to provide security and shelf appeal. In addition, the carton can be stored in the refrigerator and, being insulated, will help keep the bottle cool once it is taken out,” the jury reported.
Stora Enso supplied board to three other category winners, including the Most Innovative, Pharmaceutical and Shelf Ready & Display categories. “Success in such diverse categories and the versatility of the award-winning packaging solutions reflect the potential of our wide product portfolio. We can offer the options and expertise needed to support brand owners and packaging manufacturers who want to rethink their packaging,” says Öystein Aksnes, General Packaging Segment Director at Stora Enso.
