Tea lovers in Germany can now enjoy the new Tealounge System – a tea capsule system – provided by Teekanne GmbH & Co. KG. The product range offers 24 different tea varieties in attractively designed folding cartons, which are finished with embossing and gold foil. The material of cartons is Performa White.
Systems for coffee capsules are much more common than systems for tea capsules. With Tealounge System, Teekanne revolutionizes tea consumption at home and at work to match the modern lifestyle. Due to the fact that most of the people are very busy today and do not have much time, they appreciate a practical and convenient capsule tea system to simplify life – but with quality. With the Tealounge System, a perfect cup of tea gets ready in 60 - 90 seconds.
“With this project we were faced with a completely new product segment,” says Claudia Lührs, Product Manager at Teekanne GmbH & Co. KG. “When it comes to the packaging decision, we relied upon the expertise of our partner K-Fee System, who is familiar with the packaging of capsule machines and products.”
The packaging development department at K-fee System took responsibility for managing the packaging development process, which also involved the production team, marketing and finally purchasing to order the required volumes of boxes. “Our most important requirement was that the material of the folding box is printable in a good quality in order to achieve a nice appearance. Other important aspects were reliability, pricing and availability of the supplier,” says Anna von Eckern, Junior Product Manager, K-fee System GmbH. The material chosen for the folding cartons was Stora Enso’s Performa White GC1 260 g/m2 board.
In the course of the development project, samples were tested on production lines to define the best packaging size. After the customer’s approval and getting the final structure specifications from the packaging supplier, Teekanne’s agency took charge of the graphic design. “Both the designers and the printer Schur Pack Germany have made a remarkable job with the cartons, which look absolutely great with their bright colours, finishing treatments and total quality impression,” says Sales Manager Peter Pöpping from Stora Enso Consumer Board.
